Totally confused about Home Recording?
Hi, I'm trying to get into the recording of electric guitar on "My home studio (AKA my room lol) and I have some questions about the development of effects (effects rack). My dilemma is that I was a Behringer UB 1202 mixer that I use for my microphone, but I want to add a compressor to be able to get a more favorable registration study the more you want noise around the back door. But got leg a bit with the effects sends into the mixer and not dollars away (or maybe I do not know how to use it) So how I can put the compressor in my chain, because the output of the mixer to the computer is RCA cable (the red and white cables) and the compressor of E / S is 1 / 4 inch jack. Well, a compressor is not a good thing to add to a signal chain, if there is high background noise …. compress the signal reduces dynamic range, meaning that stronger parties closer to the quieter, which means also closer to the noise floor. In other words, noise will be audible. * * However if you set your compressor to act more like a limiter, not a bad thing, because it can help keep the input signal overloading the computer. As you develop, the majority of this signal is sent to the outflow of currency. Note: This is a post * * only and is not suitable for treatment or stereo tracks more than one track at a time. The signal leaves the FX OUT and enters the compressor, where you do what you want. Then can remove the compressor, * and * back into the mixer through one of the normal route or line or TAPE IN. The point of this way, you can mix the signal your return .. After all, we speak of an effect, right? The effects are often better left in the subtle mix during recording, if used at all! Mixture compressed signal again is called "parallel compression" and is a good way to warm up your sound if not wrong. To use the compressor as a limiter, then it is better to run the mixer output into the compressor, then on the computer.
