Is ther any way to wire an 8 ohm speaker so that the amplifier reads it as a 4 ohm speaker?
I recently bought a new head for my bass cabinet. I didn’t realize until after i bought it that the head will only put out 550 watts at 4 ohms, not 8 ohms. The cab can handle 600 watts but is only getting half of the power from the head because it is 8 ohms. Is there any way to re wire the cab to be read as a 4 ohm speaker?
You can lower the resistance but you will also be cutting the power to the speaker from the amp because some of it will be dissipating across the resistor, and you need to make certain the resistor isn’t too low of a power rating (wattage) or it will get very hot.
